Rare Spares would like to congratulate Street Machine magazine on turning 40 – what a phenomenal innings they’ve had! Rare Spares has been a close friend, associate, and supporter of the magazine since the very beginning. When issue No.1 of Street Machine hit the newsstands in late 1981, Rare Spares was there on page 34, and have been with the magazine for the entirety of the ensuing 40 years.
Early on, Street Machine recognised the significance of how much the late Les McVeigh and co-founders Dave Rayner and David Ryan had grown the business and how big an impact Rare Spares had made by helping to keep Aussie classics alive. In recognition, they ran a dedicated, four-page editorial piece in the April/May 1989 issue.
Additionally Street Machine and Rare Spares have enjoyed a great relationship through their mutual support of grass roots car shows, as well as being huge supporters of the Street Machine Summernats. In 2008, Rare Spares even awarded one of its highly-sought-after Legend Awards to long-term Street Machine Editor, Geoff Seddon. Through the entirety of its 40-year history, the magazine really has been the bible for the Australian modified car scene and Rare Spares looks forward to sharing many more anniversaries with its good friend. Again, congratulations Street Machine magazine on an illustrious 40 years!
