Roxburgh Park Sandown Round Sales Event

Sandown Raceway, 25 kilometres south east of Melbourne has played an important part in Australian motorsport since the 1960s. The biggest names in the business, from Fangio and Moss to Brabham and Brock have all raced there. Only five races are allowed every year due to its suburban location which makes every event extra special and they don’t get more special than the V8 Supercars Sandown 500. To coincide with the Sandown 500, Rare Spares puts on one of its biggest annual events, the Rare Spares Sandown Sale. Held at Rare Spares Roxburgh Park recently, it was always promising to be an extra special sales event. “The Rare Spares Roxburgh Park VIP night that was held on the 9th September was another very successful event and a great turn out,” said Silvio Nanfaro, the 2IC at Roxburgh Park. With the doors opening at 6 o’clock, customers were greeted with a traditional Aussie sausage sizzle out front. Once inside, customers were treated to a massive 20% off all Rare Spares products. Not content with spoiling our customers with bangers and bargains, next was the chance to mingle with current V8 Supercar Star Jason Bright, along with Leo Tobin, Brett Youlden and Gary O’Brian from the Touring Car Masters (TCM) series. Rare Spares and Men’s Shed Building Men’s Health Together

Rare Spares is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Australian Men’s Shed Association as part of Rare Spares’ commitment to Men’s Health issues. The new partnership will see Rare Spares and Men’s Shed work together on numerous initiatives to further the Men’s Shed cause. The Australian Men’s Shed Association (AMSA) is a not-for-profit organisation that formed in 2007 with the idea of using sheds around the country to offer men a comfortable environment to tackle various projects together, form friendships, break down barriers and in turn open up and communicate on issues that are affecting them.  “Partnering with Rare Spares is a perfect fit for the Men’s Shed initiative considering the number of men that use Rare Spares parts to work on their vehicles in their own sheds at home. We’re happy to have the opportunity to work with Rare Spares and look forward to the positive effects this will bring to men around the country,” said David Helmers, Executive Officer of the AMSA. “There has been little encouragement for men to take an interest in their own health and well-being. Many men are reluctant to talk about their emotions or problems and that means that they usually don’t ask for help.” Men who are struggling to cope with no outlet often turn to alcohol, take risks and suffer more from isolation, loneliness and depression. Relationship breakdowns, retrenchment or early retirement from a job, loss of children following divorce, physical or mental illness are just some of the problems that men find hard to deal with on their own. The AMSA provide opportunities to broach these subjects in a familiar environment. “Rare Spares is proud to announce this partnership with the Australian Men’s Shed Association. The AMSA cause is a noble one and resonates with our team. I’m sure the greater Rare Spares community will also get behind the initiative and make a difference to men’s lives across the country,” said Melissa McVeigh, Marketing Manager/Director at Rare Spares. “Rare Spares will be launching a dollar donation campaign online and in store at the Roxburgh Park and Bayswater stores to raise funds for the AMSA. Further initiatives are planned starting in early September with the E-bay auction of a V8 Supercar Hot Lap ride with Jason Bright, where the winning bid amount will be donated to the AMSA.” To find out more about the Australian Men’s Shed Association or to find your nearest Shed call 1300 550 009 or head to http://www.mensshed.org/ To find out more about Rare Spares head to www.rarespares.net.au

Brisbane South Sales Night

It was Rare Spares Brisbane South’s turn to host its annual sales night recently on the 29th of July. Customers were greeted with the sweet aroma only a traditional Aussie sausage sizzle can provide, thanks to The East Coast Muscle Car Club, and the evening only got sweeter as the night progressed. With the doors opening at 6pm, the attention went from sausages to sales with a massive 20% off everything storewide. V8 Supercar Royalty and Rare Spares Ambassador John Bowe, along with fellow Rare Spares Ambassador and V8 Supercar Superstar Jason Bright were on hand to chat and sign autographs for customers. They were joined by Jason Gomersall and Ian Palmer. Manager and owner for the last seven years, Bruce Waldie was extremely happy with how the evening went. “The night went really well! Everything went to plan and with over 300 customers, turnover was great,” said Bruce. “The drivers stayed about 2 hours and appeared to have a great time. My wife Lyn looked after them. We were so busy I never had time to get outside until after the draws were over.” To top off a fantastic evening, customers, many of whom bought along their own cars to display, were given the chance to win a Double Pass to the Ipswich Supersprint, a $100 Rare Spares voucher or a Touring Car Masters Merchandise Pack. If you like your sausages followed by sales and superstars, find out where and when the next Rare Spares Sales Night will be by registering with us at www.rarespares.net.au

Rare Spares Welshpool VIP Event.

On the evening of Thursday 30th of April, the Rare Spares team at Welshpool in Perth hosted their very first VIP night, which was a huge success. Rare Spares Welshpool store owners Todd and Teena Gardner, have been selling Rare Spares products for over 20 years and two years ago became an authorised Rare Spares distributor. Todd was delighted by the turnout for their first Rare Spares event. “I literally opened the door at 5:30, let a whole pile of people in and I didn’t get to look up from the computer until 7:30 when it was all over! We were that busy,” Todd said. “It was great to hear everyone had a great time so it's likely we'll host another VIP night next year,” he added. Sausages weren’t the only thing to sizzle on the night with all Rare Spares products massively discounted by 20%. There were even Superstar drivers on hand for customers to chat to, with appearances from John Bowe and Jason Bright. BOC Model Car Promotion Winner Announced

Rare Spares recently ran the exciting BOC Model Car Promotion. The promotion, which was held between 11th February and 11th March gave entrants the chance of winning a limited edition BOC model car signed by V8 Supercar driver Jason Bright.  Entrants only had to sign up to the website and make a purchase to be eligible to enter and a total of 177 entries were received. The car is an accurate 1:18 scale Holden VF Commodore, running Jason Bright’s 2014 season BOC livery. Only 500 of these models were produced and each comes with its own certificate of authenticity.  Blair Wood, from New Zealand was excited to be announced the winner of the model car. It may news to some in Australia, however Rare Spares also has a store in New Zealand.  “Rare Spares NZ has been around seven years and Rare Spares parts are strongly in demand in New Zealand due to their quality. It’s great that a New Zealand Rare Spares customer was the recipient of the BOC promotional car” said Store Manager Ian King. Rare Experience Winners Bright Weekend

The ‘Rare Experience’ was the ultimate money can’t buy motorsport competition for two lucky people to attend the Clipsal 500 as a free offer to any spectator that visited the Rare Spares stand and entered the competition during Summernats 28. The prize included two return flight tickets from your nearest capital city to Adelaide, 2 nights accommodation, Pit Lane/Grid Walk access + 3 day admission tickets + a Hot Lap with Jason Bright in the Team BOC V8 Supercar around the famous Adelaide street circuit. Hundreds of entries were received but there could be only one major prize winner and the ultimate motorsport weekend went to…drum roll……. Troy Townsend. Troy doesn’t normally enter competitions as he never wins anything, so was in shock when he received the call from the Rare Spares team that he had won. Troy’s partner Sue is nearly a bigger V8 Supercar fan than Troy, so Sue was always going to be the extra person Troy brought along with him. “He would have been in trouble if he didn’t take me!” laughed Sue. Troy and Sue loved every minute of their experience. “It was a great weekend, tiring due to the heat, but so much fun!” said Troy. One of the highlights of the weekend was of course getting suited up to go for a highly sought after hot lap ride with Jason Bright in his race V8 Supercar around the street course. “Awesome! Even now, after the event, I can’t believe how much grip and how it stayed on the road, it was so fast!” said Troy. Jason Bright even hung around post ride to chat and answer questions for the lucky winners. “All in all it was a great weekend and we want to thank Rare Spares for the opportunity” said Sue Bennett. Rare Spares also offered a $500 Rare Spares product voucher for the runners up prize and a Rare Spares gift pack for third place as well, so it was a fantastic and very successful competition. Off Season with Jason Bright

Jason Bright finished a respectable 11th in the 2014 V8 Supercar championship after a mixed year which included three pole positions, a race win at the Auckland ITM 500 and an unfortunately spectacular roll over at the Clipsal 500 that made highlight reels across the country. After a huge schedule of racing and corporate activities during the 2014 season Jason took some time off over the Christmas break to relax and recharge. Rare Spares recently sat down with Jason to talk about his time off and what is in store for the 2015 season. How would you sum up your 2014 season overall? I thought at times we showed our potential but we had a bit of a slump from Townsville through to Phillip Island that you cannot afford to have with the closeness of the competition these days. How tiring is a full season of travelling around the country, testing and 17 rounds across Australia and NZ plus your other sponsor and team commitments? It is a long year for sure but I have learnt over the years to make the most of the gaps in between each round or when there is a quiet period.  Our meetings and associated appearances seem to come in bursts at different periods of the year and when it gets bust it gets very busy! How much time do you officially get off from your job? I think we are pretty lucky, when we get a break it is usually a good couple of weeks and you get to do things with the family and get away.  Having said that, you never stop thinking about how to get more out of the car or the team and they are always only a phone call away. How have you spent your break this Christmas? We managed to get away for one week after Christmas for a family holiday but the rest has been spent working on my new trade and service franchise Taskforce. Is it a clean break? Do you still think about driving and the season to come? Yes for sure you do, you are always thinking about what you could have done better or improved upon. What does the first day back at work look like for you for season 2015? We have a pre-brief before the first test of the year to go through all of the changes that have been made in the off season and build a plan for the first test. And are you confident about your 2015 prospects? Yes. I believe that we finished the year very strong and can put the slump mid season last year behind us and that we have a good direction for this year.  We have had some engineering changes which I think as a team will help us work together much better which is probably an area we haven’t maximised previously.
